“The things we build in huge quantities, like computers and TVs, drop rapidly in price.” That’s great for basically everyone except the people building them. In fact that’s probably the worst possible argument to convince someone to start building more of these things. I don’t know the answer but a lot of this essay was stating what would be best for the whole without really addressing the incentives/drives of the people who are supposed to be doing all this building.
