Aside from nuclear energy, no known "sustainable" energy technologies have any hope of replacing a significant amount of the need for oil in the next several decades at least.

The ultimate solution may indeed be "getting past oil" but that's a long, long way off. Absent some game-changing discoveries, it may not happen in our lifetimes.
